The Superyacht Cup Palma 2022

This week from Wednesday 29th June to Saturday 2nd July, the 26th edition of The Superyacht Cup Palma will take place in the capital of the Balearic Islands.

This competition is the longest running superyacht regatta in Europe and one of the best known and most important at international level. It has been held since 1996 and was originally held as a farewell for the superyachts that were leaving the Mediterranean for the Caribbean to start the season.

For the second consecutive year, the Real Club Náutico de Palma is the shore host of this event.

The regatta has a total of 12 yachts taking part, ranging in length from 24 to 46 metres, in A Class, B Class and J Class.

The first race to be held is an exclusive course for the four J Class entries, Topaz (42.7m) Ranger (41m), Svea (43.6m) and Velsheda (39.5) who were victorious at the 2018 SYC on Wednesday 29th.

This competition is the second of three regattas that form part of the J Class Association international tour. The first event was at Saint Barth’s Bucket in March, and the tour will conclude with Maxi Yacht Rolex Cup 2022 on 11 September at Costa Smeralda Marina.

On the following three days of competition, the rest of the boats will join the J Class to fight for the trophy of The Superyacht Cup 2022, in three different types of competition Performance Class, Superyacht Class and Corinthian Class without spinnaker, in which all types of boats can participate.

The Superyacht Cup Palma 2022, officially started on Tuesday 28th June with the J-Class registration, followed the next day by the superyacht registration, the first competition dedicated exclusively to the J-Class, a Captain’s briefing in the RCNP Great Hall and a Welcome Cocktail presented by New Zealand and DYT Yacht Transport on the RCNP Terrace.

On Thursday 30th all the yachts will compete in Panatenius Race Day, followed by North Sails & Southern Spars Happy Hour on the RCNP terrace, which will end with the daily trophy presentation.

The following day, July 1st, the day starts with New Zealand Race Day, and the itinerary is repeated with North Sails Happy Hour and the trophy presentation on the RCNP terrace.

The competition comes to an end with St. Regis Race Day on Sunday 2 July and the eagerly awaited presentation of The Superyacht Cup 2022 overall trophy.
